Chiromancy or palmistry is commonly known as palm reading. And palm reading is considered the most fundamental technique in Chinese fortune telling. It has been used for centuries in different cultures, and there are many variations of interpretation.
In the past when a person’s birthdate is not recorded or inaccurate for horoscope analysis, a palm reader can study a person’s palms to foretell one’s future and personality traits.
This analysis is based on the lines, creases and mounds of flesh on the palm. It also includes the shape and characteristics of the arm, hand, fingers, and fingernails.
So, the expression “your future is in your hands” is really quite literal here.
