Clarence Loi is a graphic designer moonlighting as a photographer in Singapore. He has been practicing street photography since October 2006, and hopes to be rich or famous someday like Garry Winogrand or Henri Cartier-Bresson. But inside, he knows that will never happen. Because:

1. You can never be rich doing street photography (aka photojournalism) and,

2. He might be famous only for all the wrong reasons. As this weblog says, Clarence Loi ‘steals fragments of daily lives at a burlesque or poignant moment’. This translates simply to ‘taking photographs without permission’ and ‘invasion of privacy’. If caught, the whole tiny nation where he lives will quickly learn about it from news headlines everywhere. Thus, that’s his route to fame…

Nonetheless, he’s enjoying this hobby very much and polishing his skills in being stealthy.

As a photographer wannabe, Clarence has two free flickr accounts. He didn’t pay for any pro accounts because he isn’t a pro photographer. However, he hopes to blag for one free. They are:

Clarenceloi The now defunct account which he maxed out the 200 images over a three-year period.

C.Loi Abbreviated from C.Loak Of Invisibility. He thinks that stealing lives shouldn’t be done standing out like a sore thumb in the streets shouting: “HEY LOOK, I’M DOING STREET PHOTOGRAPHY! AND I AM BALLSY ENOUGH TO SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE!”.

But instead, swiftly and quietly—wearing that cloak of invisibility—hiding in plain sight at his ready for captures.

He also sees the latter flickr account as a record of his ‘better’ street photographs.
